| Bally (USA) | Set up, plays! | Never | This machine was part of the settlement between Bally and Fox over the unlicensed use of biomechanical artwork in the style of HR Giger. The settlement required Bally to pay a one-time licensing fee, a royalty payment per machine and five sample machines for Fox to use for marketing purposes. One of those five machines had a Swiss coin mechanism installed and was sent to HR Giger in Switzerland. Three of the machines were auctioned off to Fox employees. The last machine went to one of the four lawyers on Fox's team. It was from this lawyer that I purchased this machine after it sat in his living room for 30 years. This particular machine was set up such that it gives 1 credit per quarter but 7 credits per Susan B Anthony dollar coin. As a show of good faith on both sides, another part of the settlement included Bally purchasing a license from Fox to produce the Star Trek pinball machine. |
